MOGWAITHE BAD FIRE

Critically-acclaimed Scottish post-rock band Mogwai return this month with their eleventh studio album, The Bad Fire. Their previous album, As the Love Continues, was nominated for the 2021 Mercury Prize, and was awarded the Scottish Album of the Year Award.

After the high of putting out As the Love Continues, the following years were personally hard for us. We’ve dealt with a lot of loss and in Barry’s case a serious family illness with one of his daughters. Getting back together to write and record this record felt like a refuge and with John Congleton we feel that we’ve made something special. We often hear from people that our music has helped them get through hard times in their lives and for once I think it applies to us as well.

Liverpudlian quartet Circa Waves return this month with their sixth studio album, Death & Love Pt. 1.

I needed this record to process what I went through. A letter to tell myself I would stick around. Most of all, I wanted to make a record for me, with music I love and hopefully music to make kids in their bedroom pick up a guitar and believe they can take on the [effing] world.
