Decades later, Pearl Jam has released the uncensored version of their video for “Jeremy”.
The original video, in which a young student shoots himself in front of the class, was censored at the time due to MTV’s strict rules about guns appearing in videos.
It would go on to win four MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year.
The band released the uncensored version to raise awareness about gun violence, writing that “the increase in gun violence since the debut of ‘Jeremy’ is staggering.”
